Hardcore Returns to Rust

Survival game enthusiasts will be delighted by the news of the return of the «Hardcore» mode in August. There's no need to select it for gaming sessions in Rust—it's available at will. But if you do choose it, you'll encounter plenty of exciting features, including «fog of war», navigating the terrain with a compass, and a redesigned menu. Additionally, the «Pilot Pack» DLC has been announced, which includes a flight suit, weapons, and a secure storage container. As the mode's name suggests, playing it is harder than, for example, the «Primitive» mode. The map is initially hidden by «fog of war»: to reveal locations, you must traverse the terrain, risking encounters with dangers. A compass will help you navigate—it not only shows cardinal directions but also marks your position on the map. Without this item, even in explored areas, it will be difficult to figure out where you've ended up. Another distinctive feature is that weapons cannot be crafted or researched—you'll have to make do with only the firearms you find along the way. At the same time, the cost of ammunition will increase fivefold. Additionally, the developers will weaken the effects of using beds and sleeping bags.

Although base building will still be available, the cost of maintaining items in them will significantly rise. This decision aims to encourage economical development, ensuring everyone strives for a Spartan lifestyle without excess. The redesigned emote wheel in the new menu is worth noting: it now allows you to drag and drop gestures and customize everything to your liking. Furthermore, server loading and code have been optimized. Those waiting for substantial content additions should pay attention to the flight gear. With it, your character will receive a flight suit, an M15 pistol, and several items useful for base setup.
